CNC Approves Ingram Trail Eagle Scout Project

2005-10-28

Eagle Scout candidate Scott Szuhay met with the CNC Board of Directors this past summer to discuss plans to improve the Ingram Trail. Scott is currently a member of Boy Scout Troop 148 in Crafton, and requested permission from the CNC Board which owns and maintains the trail to make improvements on the trail as an Eagle Project that would help earn Scott the rank of Eagle Scout.

The trail is located in Ingram behind Ryder Trucks on Ingram Avenue with the entrance to the trail located on North Duane Street. Currently the trail is in need of maintenance to remove weeds, widen the trail, and remove low-hanging branches and debris. Proposed improvements include:

  • Adding entrance signs and trash cans
  • Removing weeks, debris and low-hanging branches
  • Adding a small bridge
  • Widening the trail
  • Mapping the trail
  • Placing nature signs and/or trail markers
  • Using recycled asphalt as road bedding

The CNC Board unanimously approved the project with one modification: the proposal to utilize ground asphalt as a trail bedding was rejected for environmental reasons. The project is tentatively slated to begin Spring of 2006.
